Youth Basketball Terms Commonly Misunderstood by Parents

It’s common in youth basketball for parents to choose events only to be disappointed about a number of things (lack of drills… etc). When choosing camps/clinics/showcase please under stand the youth basketball terms being used as this will explain what the event will consist of.

Here are common definitions for your understanding.

Rankings: a position in a scale of achievement or status; a classification.
Exposure: the condition of being presented to view or made known
Basketball Clinic: a meeting at which basketball players receive special evaluation and instruction
Clinic: meeting for diagnosis of problems and instruction or remedial work in a particular activity
Instruction: detailed information telling how something should be done, operated, or assembled.
Drill: to fix something in the mind or habit pattern of by repetitive instruction
Showcase: to show the best qualities or parts of something
Elite: a select part of a group that is superior to the rest in terms of ability or qualities.
Phenom: a person who is outstandingly talented or admired, especially an up-and-comer.

Elite Showcase: is a select part of a group that is superior to the rest in terms of ability or qualities to show the best qualities.

Flint’s Finest gets 6 All-Star nods for the Buckeye Prep Showcase

This years Buckeye Prep Showcase event was held at Otterbein University in Westerville, OH included 530 participants from various parts of the United States. The event was held over two days and included the showcase and National Youth Basketball League all star games. Some of the top middle and high schools players in the United States attended this event to prove who was the best.

After the dust settled Flint’s Finest Basketball Club had 6 kids who were recognized for there basketball excellence. For complete awards and recognition see below
